Manhunt for killers of Manso Nkwanta policeman

The Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Juliana Obeng has revealed that the police has launched a hunt for eight suspected robbers who attacked a sprinter bus with registration number GC 644-15 leading to the death of Lance Corporal Daniel Tieku.

The deceased cop with the Ashanti Regional Special Weapon And Tactics [SWAT] unit initially sustained a severe injury after he was reportedly shot at close range by one of the masked armed men numbering 8 dressed in imitated military uniforms, all wielding AK 47 rifles.

Lance Corporal Daniel Tieku was rushed to St Martin’s Hospital at Agroyesum but died on admission.

ASP Juliana Obeng revealed on Friday that a reinforcement has been deployed to the area to help arrest the suspects following the discovery of a cache of weapons including the two seized AK47 rifles that were abandoned by the robbers.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command led by DCOP Mr Kwasi Mensah Duku on Thursday retrieved a cache of weapons from the robbery scene at Manso Ayirebikrom.

DCOP Mr Kwasi Mensah Duku together with some senior and junior ranks of the service can report retrieved four AK47, one G3, one pump action, one SMG with eighty-eight(88) AK ammunition and one hundred and thirty-nine (139) G3 ammunitions in a bush at Dome Beposo near Manso Nkwanta.
