Asamoah Gyan is said to have gone bankrupt despite being named as once in the list of world’s highest-paid footballers.
The 33-year-old while in the Chinese Super League reportedly earned £227,000-a-week during his two-year involvement (2015-17) in the league. SunSport quoting Ghana news outlet MyNewsGh.com revealed that the former Sunderland forward has not spoken to his family for four months now.
Reports claim that the attacker only has about £600 in his bank account, and he is claiming his present club in the Turkish League Kayserispor are yet to pay his wages.
Further investigations according to the above named outlet stated that the only account Gyan has in Turkey is empty. Gyan, who has 51 goals in 105 appearances for his country, reportedly said: “My front and back, up and down is that money (£600) you see there.”
