Veteran actress, Grace Omaboe was popularly known as Maame Dokono is urging the government to decouple Creative Arts from the Tourism and Culture Ministry.

This she explains would ensure that the creative arts industry gets the necessary attention, particularly the welfare of old folks in the industry.

Her appeal comes on the back of the death of Akan Drama legend Kuntu Blankson who committed suicide two days ago.

According to the veteran actress, the government must take a second look at the support that the creative arts industry receives by pushing in enough investment that will positively impact the lives of players in the industry.

She’s blaming the sorry state of most of the veteran actors and actresses in the country to the inability of the government to streamline the sector to accommodate the required investment and support as pertains in neighboring Nigeria

In her estimation, a huge industry like the creative arts industry which has the potential of significantly contributing to the economy of the country requires very serious attention in order to realize its full potential

Maame Dokono was reacting to the death of Mr. Kuntu Blankson in an interview on an Accra based local television station and monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
